Studi Eksperimental Tentang Pengaruh Perubahan Diameter Lubang Orifice Terhadap Karakteristik Boundary Layer Aliran Hilir

Abstract

Goal of this experiment is knowing about influence of orifice's hole diameter variation to characteristics of down stream flow in circular ducting. The presence of orifice in channel system will cause any vortex at down stream region of flow, which was predicted could influence characteristics of flow in its moving to down stream direction. Vorticity which is contained by vortex will accumulate with flow vorticity, so that can influences produced boundary layer characteristics, involving boundary layer thickness and velocity profile. Influence of orifice's hole diameter variation to characteristics of down stream flow can be known by measuring static pressure and dynamic pressure along cross section to find out boundary layer thickness and velocity profile. The experiment results show that boundary layer develops faster at the smallest orifice's hole diameter, because vortex that happened at down stream region was the biggest. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perubahan diameter lubang orifice terhadap karakteristik aliran down stream dalam penampang circular. Adanya orifice dalam sistem saluran akan menyebabkan terjadinya vortex pada down stream region aliran yang diduga sangat mempengaruhi karakteristik aliran dalam pergerakannya ke arah down stream. Vorticity yang dikandung oleh vortex akan berakumulasi dengan vorticity aliran sehingga mempengaruhi karakteristik boundary layer yang terbentuk; antara lain : ketebalan boundary layer dan velocity profile. Pengaruh perubahan diameter lubang orifice terhadap karakteristik aliran down stream dapat diketahui dengan mengukur tekanan statis dan tekanan dinamis sepanjang penampang untuk mengetahui ketebalan boundary layer dan velocity profile yang terbentuk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa boundary layer berkembang semakin cepat pada diameter lubang orifice yang paling kecil, karena vortex yang terjadi pada down stream region paling besar.
